Hudson Valley Special Olympics to hold spring games at West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — The 32nd annual Hudson Valley Region Spring Special Olympics will be held at the U.S. Military Academy.
More than 825 athletes from seven counties will gather on April 23 at West Point.
Opening ceremonies and a parade of athletes will begin at Shea Stadium at 10 a.m., followed by several events, including track and field, swimming, power lifting and adaptive games.
Omicron Delta Kappa, the leadership honor society at West Point, is hosting the event. The Corps of Cadets color guard and the West Point parachute team are among groups scheduled to participate.
The events are free and open to the public, and a torch run for the 2016 Special Olympics will be held prior to the opening ceremonies.
