Monroe. This year’s event will once again be dedicated to Puerto Rico, via Helping Hands for Puerto Rico, as the country continues to rebuild from multiple natural disasters.

Residents are invited to celebrate America and Latino culture at this year’s Hudson Valley Fiesta Latina at Museum Village, located at 1010 State Route 17M in Monroe. The event — which takes place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 — celebrates family, faith and country.

There will be a variety of fun-filled activities for kids, appearances by noted speakers, book giveaways, vendors, food trucks and much more. This year’s event will once again be dedicated to Puerto Rico, via Helping Hands for Puerto Rico, as the country continues to rebuild from multiple natural disasters. Local elected leaders and business owners will also be recognized for their outstanding leadership and support.

“This gathering will provide an experience of history and culture to provoke thought, discussion and educational enrichment,” said event chairman Rubén Estrada. “Moreover, we wish to encourage and promote true American History within the newly arriving Latino immigrant community in hopes that this educational experience will instill pride of being an American.”

Among those appearing will be La Jara Band, which is a group of NYPD officers who are using music to connect with those they have pledged to protect and serve, and best-selling author Herman Mendoza, who will read from and sign his book “Shifting Shadows.”

Fiesta Latina is presented by the American Latino Coalition & Hudson Valley Fiesta Latina at Museum Village Committee. Admission and parking are free. All event proceeds go to Museum Village.
