Tom Mullane for Goshen School Board

| 31 May 2020 | 12:40

My name is Tom Mullane and I am running for re-election to the Goshen Central School District Board of Education.

I am a 27-year resident of Orange County. After living in another school district for 11 years, my wife and I decided to relocate to Goshen for one reason: To afford our children the opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of the Goshen School District.

My family’s move to Goshen 18 years ago has been the best decision we have ever made for our children’s future. As my two boys moved through the Goshen School District, they have taken advantage of many programs, clubs, activities and sports. One thing that has stood out in all of the schools is the dedication of the teachers, staff and community to making our students as successful as they can be.

I would like to continue to contribute to the success of the Goshen School District and its students as a member of the Board of Education.

As a Goshen resident, I have donated countless hours to the youth of our community. I have served on the Goshen Youth Football League Board in the capacity of Vice President for six years, as well as coached players from the ages of 7-13 years of age.

I have also had the opportunity to coach children in Goshen Little League and St. John’s CYO basketball.

As a parent in the Goshen School District, I have volunteered in my children’s classrooms as well as donated goods and services to various PTO fund raisers.

I have owned and operated a small business for more than 38 years. This gives me insight to the many challenges involved with budgeting and being fiscally responsible.

I consider myself to be a hardworking, goal oriented and dedicated individual who is willing to put in the time to benefit our district.

During my six-year tenure as a Board of Education member we have successfully concluded several capital projects including a state of the art STEAM lab in Goshen High School, the newly renovated Roy Reese Auditorium for concerts and theater performances and upgraded athletic facilities.

We will be facing many challenges in the weeks and months ahead as our schools reopen to welcome back our students. I am sensitive to the needs and concerns of our students, parents, faculty and taxpayers and look forward to working on the behalf of our school community.

My work on the Goshen School Board is not complete. There is much work to be done including the selection of a new superintendent to guide us through these unprecedented times as well as a new high school principal.

I look forward to these challenges and respectfully ask for your vote for myself and my fellow incumbent Allison Salte and please vote “yes” for our kids.
