I have gotten to know Joe Rickard over the past six years. He’s relentless at standing up for what he believes in, is passionate about challenging the status quo and despite whatever roadblocks are in his way, he’s willing to go the extra mile to get the job done.
Joe’s primary goal is to make Tuxedo one of the highest-rated school districts in New York State. I believe he, and the team in place, can make that happen. With the anticipated development of Tuxedo Farms, a strong school district is imperative to attract young families to our community.
He is a former teacher with a master’s degree in education, a former high school athletics coach, a father of two, and a grandfather of five elementary-age children, including one with special needs. Combine that with a master’s in business and 25+ years in the corporate world and you’ve got a parent who is bringing equal parts education, fiscal responsibility, and experience to his role as President of our School Board.
Since earning his board seat in 2021, he has helped keep administration and infrastructure costs constrained while increasing academic resources and staffing. We now have the most transparent budget in recent history.
As Tuxedo continues to grow as a community, one of the most important assets we can offer new families is excellence in schools. I believe Joe has the experience and skills necessary to continue to build on the momentum already started in Tuxedo.
