The rampant disconnect between data and its interpretation as is displayed in this paper’s “Are Prices Really Increasing” column is exasperating.
In the recent examples shown, one can add up the first set of prices and divide the year-later prices into that to find the answer is yes. Prices in the shown example increased 18.4 percent! More than seven times the monthly average reported by the Department of Labor. Why is this not mentioned in the article?
