GOSHEN - Goshen Intermediate School students were recently visited by Mark Rothstein and his “World of Rope Jumping” assembly. Students in each grade level attended an assembly about jumping rope. The following day, all students enjoyed a hands-on rope jumping workshop in the gym. Rothstein’s assembly included a performance of intricate rope jumping routines as well as interactive character-building skits focusing on fitness, kindness, respect, trying your best, positive choices, drug-free living, polite manners, teamwork and honesty, according to officials. During the workshop, each student was given a jump rope and attempted different routines and techniques, under Rothstein’s guidance. As part of his visit, Rothstein donated 140 jump ropes to the Goshen Intermediate School Physical Education program. Four students served as the production crew during Rothstein’s visit: fourth-grader Destiny DeWitt and fifth-graders Kristina Pepaj, Ariana Tetz and Davgil David Gil. “All of the students loved this two-day educational experience that will enhance their fitness and character building elements for life,” said Physical Education Teacher Mike Turi. The rope jumping presentation was made possible through a donation from the R. I. Suresky & Sons auto dealership in Goshen. A plaque of appreciation was presented to Joe Suresky by Principal Jason Carter and Turi.
