GOSHEN — Peter Glaser has been named interim principal of the C. J. Hooker Middle School, following the departure of Principal Colleen Kane on Dec. 10. Kane, who served as our middle school students for four-and-a-half years, accepted a middle school principal position in upstate New York. Glaser retired from the Gloversville Enlarged School District in 2007 after eight years as middle school principal. He will temporarily serve as principal until a permanent replacement is found. “My goal is to help students and staff members feel comfortable during this transition while helping to continue with the middle school’s successful academic programs,” said Glaser. Glaser began his career in Schenectady, where he taught for 18 years as a behaviorist teacher, and also taught SAT classes and was the adult education coordinator for Schenectady Community College. He then moved on to Gloversville where he served as both assistant principal and principal of the middle school - five years of which he worked with Superintendent Daniel Connor, who was the Gloversville superintendent at the time. “One reason that I decided to come to Goshen is my great respect for the superintendent,” said Glaser. “I enjoyed working with him for five years and am confident is his ability to run a good school system.” Glaser, who is from Niskayuna, will reside at his summer home in Walker Valley with his wife, Rise, while he serves as interim principal of the middle school. He is an avid reader, art and music lover and antiques collector.
