Editor's note: This article has been corrected. Chester - Macaroni the Clown lit up the sidewalk with his antics as he enticed children and adults into the new Sweet Creamery ice cream shop, which held its grand opening at the ShopRite mall in Chester last weekend. There they found 20 flavors to please the palette, along with old-fashioned ice cream sodas and egg creams. New York State Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun stopped by for an official ribbon cutting. The children played with Macaroni, who crafted balloon animals in all the colors of the rainbow. The owner, Cris Boliveau, said she had wanted to open a retro-style ice cream shop for the past 12 years. She grew up in Sparta, N.J., where she recalls having some grand times at a ice cream place called The Gibson Girl. With her partner, Carol Goldman, she’s now made her dream a reality. Macaroni enticed hundreds of first-timers from the movie theater a few shops away, while adults at the counter reminisced while sipping egg creams. The shop’s black and white designs and chrome trim, topped off with a spectacular jukebox, one can sit at the counter and easily be transported back in time. By Edie Johnson
