Kiwanis to hold 5K race during Memorial Day weekend
Chester The Chester Kiwanis Club will hold its annual 5K Hambletonian Pace on Saturday, May 26. The route is flat and takes the runner through the streets of the village’s historic downtown, starting and finishing in the community park overlooking the community’s black dirt farms. The race will be measured by the Orange Runners Club and electronically timed by Fast Finishes. Proceeds will benefit high school scholarships, Inspire (the Orange County Cerebral Palsy Association), and the Chester Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The entry fee for pre-registered participants are $8 for students and $15 for adults. On race day, students pay $10 and adults $18. Race day registration is from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. in the park. The race starts at 9 a.m. Trophies will be given to the top three male and female finishers, and to the top three males and females in the following categories: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+up. Registered runners are eligible for raffle prizes. A special award will be given to a registered runner wearing the oldest dated race shirt. A free post-race breakfast buffet will be available for all registered runners; guests pay $5. Proceeds will benefit the Chester Presbyterian Church Food Pantry. Tee shirts are guaranteed to all pre-registered entrants.
