Junior Science Olympiad Team takes third in the state
Goshen -Goshen's C.J. Hooker Middle School placed third in the New York State Science Olympiad Competition held at St. John Fisher College in Rochester on April 23 and 24. Thirty-nine teams from across the state competed. Armstrong placed first and C.P. Weber placed second. They will represent New York State at the National Competition in Juniata, Pennsylvania, on May 21 and 22. The C. J. Hooker Team of sixth to ninth graders competed this year with "unmatched exuberance," said Nancy Wiegand, reporter of the Goshen Science Olympiad Organization. "The parents, guardians, teachers, coaches, school board, and administration can stand very proud to know the competitors this year exhibited extreme effort, devoted many hours of studying, building, preparing and have upheld a high level of spirit. All of which was made possible by the dedicated coaches and teachers, Patricia Sherman, Jim Boyd, and Steve Hill." The team gives a special thank-you to Patricia Sherman, Jim Boyd, Steve Hill and all who support the Science Olympiad program through the scholarship fund, candy sale, car wash and the booth at Great American Weekend.
