Jacobowitz and Gubits names two new partners

Walden. Kara J. Cavallo, Esq., has served as senior counsel concentrating in civil appellate practice and civil litigation. Kelly A. Pressler, Esq., has been recognized as a 2019 Orange County Rising Star, Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties Outstanding Lawyer, and a Super Lawyers Upstate New York Rising Star.

Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP, has announced that Kara J. Cavallo, Esq., and Kelly A. Pressler, Esq., have both been named partner, effective Jan. 1.

“Both Kara and Kelly have distinguished themselves as talented lawyers who are vested in helping the firm’s clients achieve success and are committed to giving back to our local community,” said Michele L. Babcock, managing partner at Jacobowitz and Gubits.

Kara J. Cavallo, Esq.

Cavallo has been with the firm for 15 years and has served as senior counsel concentrating in civil appellate practice and civil litigation, including tax certiorari. She received her bachelor of science degree, magna cum laude, in 1994 from Arizona State University, with a major in political science and a minor in Spanish. She received her juris doctor degree in 1999 from the University of Arizona, College of Law, where she served as an executive note editor on the Arizona Law Review.

She currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Children’s Rights Society. She previously served as the president of the Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties. She is a member of the Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties, the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, and the New York State Bar Associations. Cavallo has lectured at seminars and continuing legal education presentations, including on the topics of appellate practice, real property taxation and assessment, not-for-profit governance and compliance, sexual harassment prevention training, and evolving issues in hemp law.

She lives in Cornwall with her husband and twin sons.

Kelly joined the firm in 2014 and has served as senior counsel concentrating in general civil litigation and complex commercial litigation. She also handles municipal law litigation, trusts and estate litigation, and FINRA arbitrations.

Kelly A. Pressler, Esq.

Pressler is on the board of directors of Fearless! Hudson Valley, Inc. (formerly Safe Homes of Orange County), and Leadership Orange, and graduated from Leadership Orange in 2018. She has been recognized as a 2019 Orange County Rising Star, Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties 2016 Outstanding Lawyer, and as a Super Lawyers Upstate New York Rising Star 2016-2019.

She is the treasurer of the Montgomery Nursery School, treasurer of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, and vice president of the Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties.

Pressler lives in Montgomery with her husband and three children, and is expecting her fourth child in early 2020.
