Allegro Orchestra offers a free training program for young string players
The Allegro Orchestra has distinguished itself throughout the years as a progressive ensemble that provides young artists exceptional opportunities. Performances at Steinway Hall in New York City, Eisenhower Hall at West Point and even appearances at the White House are just a few of the opportunities. Artists from the New York Philharmonic, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Albany Symphony Orchestra, and the Broadway stage have performed as soloists for this ensemble. “Allegro has created an environment that both fosters and challenges the talent of young artists while also gaining the ear and attention of numerous leading artists who have lent their talent,” said Viktoras Prizgintas, founder of the orchestra. Now the orchestra intends to broaden the opportunity for future young artists in our region by offering a training orchestra. According to Prizgintas, the orchestra has caught the attention of other groups like the Linane School of Irish Music and the alternative rock group Pan.a.ce.a. Carmen Nardone, the recent recipient of the national competition to become the new voice for Chock Full o’Nuts Coffee commercials, performed with Allegro last year, will appear again on Nov. 4 and again next spring.
