Philip Paul Parisi

The world is sometimes blessed by some grand souls who pass by leaving a trail of radiance in their wake. Anyone who met and knew and loved Phil Parisi of Chester was swept up by his light and was made somehow better for having known him.
Phil was born in Hell’s Kitchen in the Borough of Manhattan on Oct. 27, 1947. He was predeceased by his parents, Rita Scully Parisi and Mauro Parisi, and two of his four siblings.
Phil passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, leaving behind his wife of 47 years and best friend, Susan Murphy Parisi; their beloved son, Anthony and his wife Erin. Also surviving his passing are several special nieces and nephews, including his treasured godson, Zachary.
It would be impossible to identify the numbers of friends and colleagues who will mourn the passing of this man of integrity and compassion. He has touched so many through his educational years at Warwick Valley High School and Fordham University; through his long and fruitful association with Pius XII Youth and Family Services; through his dedicated commitment to The Center for Personal Development and Recovery; and through his unique and heartfelt journey to serenity, courage and wisdom.
He felt great love for his “group folks” and their presence in his life brought him immense joy.
“How will the value of your days be measured? What will matter is not your success but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage and sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you’re gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories of those who love you.”
For the humor, for the wisdom, for the value of his days among us, Philip Paul Parisi will forever grace our memories. Until we meet again.
