Marie Louise Buchheit Ward of Port Jervis entered into rest on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023. She was 89 years old.
Marie Louise was born April 3, 1934, in Ergersheim (Alsace) France, the daughter of Joseph and Alphonsine (Weiskopf) Ernwein.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Leon Buchheit, in 1992 and her second husband, M.G. William F. Ward, in 2018.
Her adventurous spirit caused her to immigrate to the United States on her own at age 17. She finished high school in New York and then completed her studies at Katherine Gibbs.
She was very proud of her Alsatian heritage.
She was a remarkable woman with diverse interests and lots of spunk, a smart businesswoman, elegant, loving, compassionate and expressed herself in a slight French accent with no filters.
She was most proud of her surviving children Marc and Danielle Buchheit.
Visitation was held Sept. 14 at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church St., Goshen.
A Mass of Christian burial to Celebrate her life was held Sept. 15 at St. John The Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen.
Burial followed in St. John’s Cemetery in Goshen.
