Howie, as he is affectionately known by all who love him, was born August 28, 1933, in New York, NY, and is survived by his beloved wife of almost 61 years, Ann (Fitzsimmons) King, his children Janet (King) and George Eckerson, Nancy (King) O’Leary, Michael and Marian (Licari) King; his grandchildren: Daniel and Lauren (Allen) Eckerson, Jonathan and Kimberly (Maskal) Eckerson, Keith Eckerson, Mollie O’Leary, Morgan King, Timothy O’Leary, Maxwell King, Brendan Eckerson, Ryan Eckerson and Madison King and his great-granddaughters Charlotte, Violette and Evie Eckerson. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Gregory and Carol King, brother Joseph King, sister Judith King, in-laws Robert and Mary Fitzsimmons, Matthew and Judy Fitzsimmons and John Rogers. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will mourn Howie’s passing.

Most of his adult life was spent working in the computer industry, which afforded him the nickname “Mayor.” Because of his outgoing, warm, and compassionate nature, everyone who met Howie fondly remembered him. Howie was very proud of his service in the United States Army and wore his Veteran’s cap up until his last day. When Howie was no longer able to work, he enjoyed many years giving back as a volunteer at Helen Hayes Hospital in Haverstraw, NY, offering a warm smile and a reassuring voice to those coming in for rehab or visiting ill family members.

The most important thing in Howie’s life was his family. He loved the family vacations on Cape Cod with four generations spending time together, family dinners and parties, especially Christmas when he played Santa.

Visitation will be Friday, April 22 from 4 to 8 PM at St. James Episcopal Church, 1 St. James Pl., Goshen, NY.

A Mass of Christian burial to Celebrate his life will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. John The Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY.
