Dorothy Kay Rutkowski

    Dorothy Kay Rutkowski of Goshen, a beautician and lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023. She was 79.

    The daughter of Ralph E. and Dorothy VanAmburger Smith Jr., she was born on May 29, 1944, in Warwick.

    She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and St. Joseph’s Living Rosary Society Florida, Active Honorary Member of Florida Fire Department Ambulance Corps, where she was a cook for many events and was involved in the blood pressure clinics since 1992.

    She was a former Den Mother and Commissioner of the Cub Scout Troop #44 in the Village of Florida as well as a former Brownie leader in Florida.

    She was also a former cook for the Demarest Hotel in Warwick as well as a hairdresser for Wanda’s Salon in the Village of Florida.

    Survivors include her husband Vincent J. Rutkowski Sr. of Goshen; sons Vincent J. Rutkowski Jr. and wife Sandy of Concord, North Carolina; John R. Rutkowski and wife Renee of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Steven A. Rutkowski of Florida, N.Y.; daughter Dorothy Ann Myers of Florida, N.Y.; grandchildren Vincent, Harley, James and Johnette and stepgrandson Josh; great grandchildren Grace Myers and Salem Rosalie Rutkowski; brother Daniel Smith of Gainesville, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins, also great-nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Powers.

    Visitation was held Aug. 31 at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida.

    A funeral mass was held Sept. 1 at St. Joseph’s Church, 20 Glenmere Ave., Florida.

    Burial was at the convenience of the family .
