Funding to address water issues long grumbled about in Hambletonian Park was spotlighted at the recent Town of Goshen Board meeting. Town Supervisor Joseph Betro said that State Senator Mike Martucci was contacted about the possibility of state assistance. Then Martucci reached out to State Senator James Skoufis about the issue. Skoufis helped secure a $200,000 grant to install a new green sand water filtration system in the subdivision. Senator Skoufis’ grant manager could not be reached for comment before press time.

Facebook posts show that residents of Hambletonian Park had voiced concerns about water quality since at least 2019. According to Town Board member Douglas Bloomfield, the subdivisions of Arcadia Hills and Scotchtown are using a similar water filtration system.
