    Sherman G. Memmelaar of Goshen, N.Y., died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at home. He was 74.

    Son of John and Claire (Dale) Memmelaar, he was born Oct. 4, 1945, in Hawthorne, N.J.

    He was a strong caring man who always had time for his grandchildren's lacrosse games, soccer games, and football games. He was always willing to lend a hand to others, and his love for his community was boundless. He loved building things and working in his yard.

    Sherman is survived by his wife, Sandra Memmelaar; daughters, Robyn Jowell and husband, Kevin, and son Dylan, and Suzanne Williams and husband, Adrian, and their children Jack, Addison, and Alec; son, Chris and wife, Krista, and children Anthony and Julia; brothers, Fred and Herman; sisters-in-law, Bernedette, Carolyn, and Karen; and "brother" Dick Holmberg.

    He was predeceased by brothers Jack, Bernie, Al, Dale, Martin, and Caddy Memmelaar; sister Mildred Henry; sisters-in-law Betty Memmelaar, Peg Memmelaar, Sally Memmelaar; niece Joy Memmelaar, and nephews Al Memmelaar, Chuck Memmelaar and David Memmelaar.

    Visitation was held Oct. 19 at the Goodwill Church, Montgomery, N.Y., followed by a funeral service. Burial was in Goodwill Cemetery.
