Samuel Eli Fast Jr. of Goshen passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021. He was 84 years old.

A lifelong resident of Orange County, he was born in Middletown and grew up working in his family’s fuel oil business, eventually taking over and running it until he sold it and retired in 2002.

He served in the United States Army from 1960 until 1966. He was a member of the Middletown Lions Club for more than 50 years and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship award for exceptional service to his community.

He loved traveling the world with friends and family, sports cars, jokes and matching wits against the challengers on Jeopardy. Most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan; daughters Samantha (Marc) and Amanda (Devin) and granddaughters Jessica, Jayden and Harper.

Visitation was held Aug. 13 at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church St., Goshen. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life followed at the funeral home.

Burial was held at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.

The Family sat Shiva on Aug. 14 and Aug. 15 evenings.
