    Mary Ann Woortman Kelder, of Florida, New York, passed away peacefully at Kaplan Hospice in Newburgh on May 17, 2023.

    Mary was born on Sept. 27, 1936, in Florida New York, and is survived by her only son, John Matthew Kelder (Sondra) of Westover, Maryland; her grandson, John Matthew Kelder Jr. (Melody); her adopted granddaughter, Jennifer Dapp (Dylan), and her dear life-long friend, Kathy Jarocki. She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Anna Kuszek Woortman, and her brothers, Michael and Gerard.

    Mary was employed for many years in the shipping and receiving industry, retiring from Modern Produce in Goshen. She enjoyed serving as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack #48. Mary was active in a crochet group in Florida, and loved to make blankets for the newborns at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Another of her hobbies was making homemade soups for her friends and neighbors. Mary was devout in her faith and was a lifetime parishioner at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Florida, New York.

    Friends may call from 3–7 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023, and 9:30–10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at T S Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, New York 10921. A mass to remember her will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Florida, NY.
