    Alfred “Al” Fusco passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, at Stony Brook University Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old.

    A longtime (38 years) resident of Monroe, Al has spent the last 14 years residing in Cape Coral, Fla., with his life partner, Christine Devita.

    He was born June 26, 1940, in the Bronx, son of Alphonso and Rose (Tresca) Fusco.

    Al attended Evander Childs High School in the Bronx and went on to study at Parsons School of Design in New York City. He was a talented artist and graphic designer.

    In 1961 he joined the Army Reserve and served as Sergeant E5 until 1967.

    Al married Rosemary Seltenreich in the Bronx in 1962. In 1969 they moved the family to Monroe to raise their three sons Paul, Daniel and David.

    Al loved fishing in Pine Tree Lake and Montauk. He loved all things nature, including animals and wildlife, photography and he enjoyed all of his various handyman projects. Most of all, Al had a special love for all of his family and friends.

    He leaves behind his life partner of twenty-three years, Christine Devita of Cape Coral, Fla.; and his three sons: Paul Fusco of Southampton; Daniel and his wife Patsy of Monroe and Dave and his wife Marguerite of Goshen; seven grandchildren: Tyler, Justine, Jordan, Karli, Collin, Kayleigh and Noelle. Al is also survived by Christine’s three daughters: Rose and Paul Sisilli, Lori Cesca, and Lisa Devita; and her grandchildren: Jake, Caitlin, Megan, Devon, Nick, Vincent and Anthony. Additional survivors include Al’s brother Ronald Fusco; and his sister Amelia Hausle; his nephew Dr. David Fusco; his niece Laurie Riley; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

    A celebration of Al’s life was held Sept. 19 at Smith, Seaman, and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
