Sara Miller and John Hand III to wed

Tim and Pat Miller of Chester, N.Y., are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter Sara to John Hand III, son of Patricia and John Hand Jr. of Central Valley, N.Y. Sara is a graduate of Chester Academy and Orange Ulster BOCES. She is a licensed cosmetologist and is currently employed by Society of Lash in Newburgh, N.Y. John is a graduate of Monroe Woodbury High school. He is employed by the Village of Woodbury, N.Y., as the assistant building inspector. John is a volunteer fireman with Woodbury Fire department. John proposed to Sara on Dec. 2, 2017, in front of her family while cutting down their Christmas tree. A fall wedding is planned for 2019. (Photo provided)
