With the coronavirus still keeping our community separated, it is no doubt very hard to stay in touch with our cultural celebrations with friends and families.

However, the Orange County Chinese Association and OCCA youths determination shone brightly during their Mid-Autumn Festival Gala on Saturday, Oct. 3.

With a mission for laughter and love, the OCCA put together a remarkable gathering via Zoom with appearances from renowned community members, instrumental and vocal songs and recitations.

State Sen. James Skoufis and Assemblyman Colin Schmitt gave warm greetings at the beginning of our celebration. Juan Li, Angela Qiu, and Dr. Kangjian Wu gave opening remarks to kick off the night.

The planning team - Angela Qiu, Sunny Shi and Andy Wang - gave a beautiful PowerPoint presentation and introduction of the Moon Festival.

Performers of the night included Jesssie Gao, Claire He, Matthew Qu, Eugene Yu, Kevin Jin, Dr. Lan Jiang, Dorothy Plummer, Darren Di, Emily Wang and special guest Ke Pei, a well-known tenor who has played the male lead several times in numerous operas.

The evening ended closing remarks by Juan Li and Angela Qiu.

What a beautiful and well spirited night it was.
