The Town of Chester Democratic Committee announced this week that, following the count of absentee and affidavit ballots by the Orange County Board of Elections, Brandon Holdridge won the election for the Council Seat that was the two-year to fill a vacancy.

Holdridge defeated Karen A. Ostberg 1,155 votes to 1,124. On election night, Ostberg, a Republican, led Holdridge 1,099 to 1,088 votes.

The certification of election results will be completed by the Orange County Board of Elections sometime after Dec. 1, the committee said in its press release announcing the election update.

The councilman-elect offered the following statement Wednesday evening:

“I want to thank the voters of Chester for taking a chance on me and electing me to the Chester Town Board. I’m ready to serve my community and will work to deliver on my goals of fiscal responsibility, greater transparency, and preserving our land and character.
