‘Mr. Bloomfield should be held accountable for this sterling record of responsibility for the taxpayers money’

My choice for Councilman for the Town of Goshen is Douglas Bloomfield. My reason is a comparison between the financial position of the Town from 2006 to 2021.

In 2006 we owed $4.6 million and spent $678 thousand to finance that debt.

In 2021 we had $1.4 million in debt and spent $217 thousand to finance it.

That’s $461 thousand that went to maintain town roads instead of Wall Street bankers.

In 2006 we spent $231 thousand on roads.

In 2021 we spent $1.1 million on roads, all cash, none was borrowed.

In eight of the last nine years town tax rates have gone down.

In 2022 the taxes paid by town and village residents will be lower than in 2013.

The bond rating of the town is AA+, the second highest rating. I would say it is because of the excellent bond rating of the town, we will be able to secure the financing to remove the Salesian school.

In these days of voters calling for accountability I think Mr. Bloomfield should be held accountable for this sterling record of responsibility for the taxpayers money.

    Sincerely,

    Robert D. Smith
