Judy Green seeks your vote to return to the Goshen Board of Education

On May 18 I will be running for re-election to the Goshen School Board. For many years I have been an active and contributing member of the board. During that time I have served as vice president for two years and as president for seven years.

This past year I have served on the policy committee and, with my fellow board members, played an active part in selecting our next superintendent from an outstanding group of applicants.

Putting aside the normal functions of a board, this year certainly has been abnormal. One of the biggest differences for me as a board member has been the change to Zoom meetings with no staff or community members actually in attendance. It is just not the same.

However, we have to follow the rules. Our administrators have had to do the same. At times it seemed as the rules from the state and county were ambiguous or changing daily if not hourly.

I look forward to a normal school day in September. Our students deserve it. I will strongly advocate for a normal school week and support any programs necessary to bring our students up to speed. Their success is very important to me.

Many people ask why one would want to be on a school board. There certainly no perks or salary. I have always been active in our community and especially like giving my time to the Goshen School District. As a retired educator I guess that comes naturally when you have had a good experience. I always enjoy seeing my former students and their families to hear how they valued their time spent in our district.

Originally from Pennsylvania and a proud graduate of Penn State, I have spent my entire adult life living in Goshen. I spend my other volunteer time at Goshen Historic Track and helping to beautify our village with Goshen In Bloom.

Please remember to vote on the budget on May 18. I would sincerely appreciate your support as well.

    Judy Green
