College fair and financial aid workshop planned at GHS

College fair
The high school guidance department will host a college fair for juniors and seniors from 1 to 3 p.m. in Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the high school gym.
Take this opportunity to begin or expand your college search. Speak with college representatives and ask questions about majors, housing, and activities. See sidebar for the list of institutions of higher learning who will be sending representatives.
Financial aid workshop
The guidance department will present a financial aid workshop for seniors and parents at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, in the high school auditorium.
Scott Ahrens of the New York State Department of Financial Services will be the guest presenter. He will discuss the procedure for applying for financial aid and will explain how to complete the financial aid applications required by colleges and other post-secondary education programs.
The 2019-20 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form will be available online on Oct. 1.Since most students attending college receive some form of financial aid, including student loans, and are required to file financial aid applications as soon as possible after Oct. 1, parents will find this program helpful and informative.
