Museum Village is hosting its 44th annual Civil War Reenactment on Saturday, Aug. 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, Sept. 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You will see representations of Federal and Confederate infantry, artillery and cavalry units. During the weekend you will witness re-enactments of standard Civil War tactics and troop movements as the two armies plan for battle.

Civilian life is also a part of the scenery that the visitor will observe. Visitors can stroll through the camps, meet and talk with the troops and civilians and shop at Sutler’s Row, the civilian merchants who followed the Army.

Throughout the day:

:• Watch President Lincoln give the Gettysburg Address.

• Meet with American abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

• Hear William H. Seward talk about the Emancipation Proclamation.

• Canon demonstrations.

• Cooking presentations.

• An actual Civil War letter home from a soldier.

There will be several dresses and the many layers of Civil War clothing modeled by our reenactors. This is a small portion of the museum's extensive textile collection.
