The following are virtual classes from the Cornell Cooperative experts offered this month via Zoom:

Garden Insect ID & Organic Controls

Wednesday, Aug. 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

What’s eating your vegetable plants? Learning to identify the beneficial and detrimental insects and pests in your garden will help reduce insect damage to your vegetables, fruits and flowers. Participants will learn characteristics of the major insect orders in our region and gain information on how to deal with common insect pests organically.

This class is taught by Mary Kirkwyland, owner and operator of Lyrical Landscapes. For more than a decade, she has worked as a staff writer at Cornell University in the winter months developing and editing organic crop production guidelines for vegetable and fruit crop growers in the Northeast.

The fee is $10-$30/person on a sliding scale. Pay what you can afford. For more information and to register, visit https://ccetompkins.mahaplatform.com/events/insectsanddisease081220.
