Michael L. Dunn of Chester, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Wallkill, N.Y. He was 61.

Son of the late Daisy Alice Thompson Dunn, he was born Feb. 12, 1957, in Mount Pleasant, N.Y.

For years Michael was a self-employed contractor with Dunn-Well Homes and Contracting Inc. of Chester and most recently was a foreman for ELQ of White Plains, N.Y., and Boyce Excavating of Slate Hill, N.Y.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a licensed private pilot and in his earlier years was a private flight instructor. Michael was involved in countless community activities, such as youth soccer, Odyssey of the Mind, and softball.

His world revolved around his family. Michael attended every sporting event for his children — and sick as he was, right up until this last week. He and his family enjoyed countless years of doing fun things like go-karting and snowmobiling. Michael taught his children everything he knew and gave them a lifetime of lessons and wisdom.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathleen A. Quinn Dunn, at home; his son, Jonathan Dunn of Somerset, N.J.; his daughter, Erin Dunn of Chester; his brother, Wayland (Darry) Dunn and his wife, Joan, of Ooltewah, Tenn.; his sister Gloria Strickland of Crossville, Tenn.; several sisters and brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

Michael was predeceased by his brother-in-law Richard Strickland.

Visitation was held Oct. 20 at Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home, Monroe, N.Y. A Chapel Service was held in the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Gerald Dumoulin. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society-Eastern Division, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553 (cancer.org).
