Self-defense classes for women to raise funds for Safe Homes

— The Orange County Sports Club is offering a self-defense class for women through their partnership with Northeastern Martial Arts Academy.

All proceeds from this event — to be held on Sunday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — will benefit Safe Homes of Orange County.

The class is for women over age 14. It is offered through the Northeastern Martial Arts Academy and will be taught by one of their instructors. Participants will have the opportunity to learn simple and effective skills needed to prevent or survive an assault.

The fee of $20 will be given as a donation to Safe Homes of Orange County.

Kevin Byrket, director of operations at Safe Homes, said, "Come and learn the skills that will mentally and physically help you and could potentially save your life.”
