The Repair Café is coming to the Albert Wisner Public library with two special programs. Fixperts will teach participants how to repair their torn textiles and clothing and sharpen their knives and scissors.

Mending matters

Saturday, Aug. 24, 10 a.m. to noon

Bring your torn textiles and get advice on how to mend them from Repair Café sewing “fixperts.” You’ll learn how to stitch, patch, repair and repurpose your favorite clothes, even wool sweaters.

See demos of decorative “visible mending,” hand and machine sewing techniques, including how to release a stuck zipper.

A Cut Above, a knife-sharpening class

Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Dull blades? Join Repair Café “fixperts” to learn how to sharpen and care for knives of all shapes and sizes of scissors – excluding serrated blades.

To attend these programs, register online at albertwisnerlibrary.org or call the Library’s Help Desk at 986-1047 ext. 3.
