Summer Band Camp’s musical finale
Florida. Participants ended the program with a concert for family and friends.

To mark the end of Florida Union Free School District’s fourth annual summer band camp, family and friends were invited to a concert where students showcased their growth as young musicians.
The middle school group played three pieces, ending with “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” The high school group followed with four upbeat pop selections. Band teacher William Couture played along with the students, noting that it was a testament to their talent and hard work that he felt comfortable to sit and play with them rather than conduct.
S.S. Seward Institute principal Michael Maesano was in attendance, recording his favorite pieces and cheering the students on.
“It was exciting to hear the hard work of our students pay off with an entertaining evening of music,” Maesano said. “I am so impressed with how our students continue to challenge themselves and take advantage of the opportunities that they are afforded. I could not be more proud of all of them for taking time over the summer to continue to improve their skills and I’m so pleased with the continued growth of our music program.”
Couture added that the band students are an extremely talented and motivated group.
”It is amazing what the students are able to achieve in a short amount of time when everyone is motivated toward the same goal,” he said. “Seven songs performed by two groups is a huge undertaking in a short time frame. I would like to thank everyone for coming out to the show and supporting the arts. There is nothing better than having to put out more chairs than anticipated.”
