| 04 Dec 2014 | 07:59

Subtle Energies is celebrating its 16th anniversary on Friday, Dec. 5,. This holistic health center has been serving the Chester-Warwick area with a wide variety of massages, aromatherapy, homeopathy, Reiki, and a variety of classes for the past 16 years.

Two additional professional massage therapists, both who specialize in doing deep tissue massage, have recently joined Subtle Energies. They call their deep tissue massage system "Take it to the Matt" because both the new therapists are named Matt.

Matthew Boswell, LMT, finds studying science and anatomy fascinating. He received his massage degree from the Finger Lakes School of Massage in 2010. He also has a B.S. in biochemistry. This science background has helped him to discern what massage techniques are effective or not effective, and what biological information holds clinical value.

Boswell has worked with car crash victims, people with mental and physical disabilities, as well as those suffering from general aches and pains. He believes in the therapy model of care; tracking progress and finding the best approach to ease pain.

His experience allows him to fine tune techniques for frozen shoulder and shoulder pain, restricted range of motion, trigger point therapy, and sports massage. Utilizing his learning experiences and hones skills, Boswell continues to study the body, in functions, and to remove the barrier of pain.

Matt Spicehandler is an enthusiastic massage therapist licensed in New York and New Jersey. He is excited about providing therapeutic massage to a wide variety of clients. Whether it is a serious pain issue or a relaxing massage you are looking for, Spicehandler's compassionate, empathetic nature will help him attune to your needs. Though Spicehandler enjoys providing relaxing massages, his real specialty is pain management. At the Institute for Therapeutic Massage, he studied Chinese medicine and Shiatsu. As a result, he is able to assist in pain alleviation through acupressure and stretching techniques. He offers both conventional massage and traditional Shiatsu. Spicehandler uses Qi Gong and breathing techniques to create a calm environment and to ensure a focused precision while providing your massage.

At the Institute for Therapeutic Massage, Spicehandler teaches students deep tissue and Swedish modalities. As an instructor, he stays informed on current techniques and theories. Constantly learning, Spicehandler is excited to evolve as a therapist while helping as many people as he can.

Of course, the mainstays of Subtle Energies, Connie and Antoinette, are available to do Swedish, core zero, lymph drainage, craniosacral, reflexology, post-traumatic stress, and hot stone massages. Gift certificates are available all throughout the year.
