— Goshen High School seniors Veronica Romero, Evelyn Palma, and Karen Cruz recently spent a day off from school volunteering at the Children’s Rights Society’s Project SPEAK.
The girls helped translate informational fliers into Spanish, which will benefit clients and families with limited English language skills.
Project SPEAK (Special Education Advocacy for Kids) is funded by a grant from the Office of Court Administration Civil Legal Services Program. Its mission is to provide advocacy and legal services to Orange County’s low-income and foster children, who are experiencing problems in school.
"Thanks to the efforts of Veronica, Evelyn and Karen, SPEAK can now provide its clients with information in their native language, thus making their entry into the world of special education and educational advocacy a more positive and effective experience," said Valerie Rittendale, education advocate for Project Speak/Children's Rights Society.
