Repairs for The Newburgh-Beacon Bridge

BEACON — The Newburgh-Beacon Bridge over the Hudson River is undergoing a $93 million repair project that will last three years.
New York State Bridge Authority commissioners visited the bridge Oct. 17 to see the first panels being installed to replace the eastbound span's original deck.
The authority's contractor is initially installing as many as six panels a night. Three eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 will remain open at morning and evening rush hours. Two lanes will be open midday. One lane will be open at night.
The contractor hopes to work through mid-December and then start again in January.
