No fooling: Amore’s Pizzeria celebrates 10 years on April 1st with $10 pie
By Ginny Privitar
GOSHEN — All day long on Monday, April 1, you’ll be able to get a large pie at Amore’s Pizzeria for only $10 instead of the usual $14.
No, seriously, it’s not an April Fools’ joke.
Amore’s is celebrating 10 years in business, to the day. Owner Brian Veneziano wants to show his appreciation to his customers.
When he and his wife, Jamie, opened up the business at 182 West Main Street 10 years ago, they had one boy. They’re now the proud parents of three boys and are expecting a baby girl.
As with any new business, things were difficult for the first few years. But the business took off. Now it has a staff of ten part-timers in addition to a cook and Veneziano himself, who does a lot of the cooking.
He attributes much of his success to his staff.
“All my workers, we’re all like family," he said.
One young woman behind the counter, Taylor, backed that up. She’s been at Amore’s for four years and loves working there, she said.
Veneziano works seven days a week, except for big holidays. He finally took time off for a family vacation last year. It was such a great experience, he’s now planning to take a family vacation every year.
A life spent cooking for othersVeneziano’s father and grandfather owned pizzerias in Rockland County and in New Jersey, so he grew up in the business. As a youngster he was making pizzas and recipes handed down from his grandfather.
“I’ve been doing this since I was nine years old,” he said.
Some customer favorites include specialty wings with choice of sauce — garlic and onion, teriyaki, honey mustard, BBQ, and mild, hot and “fire hot.”
All their salads are freshly made. Chicken insalata with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, and olives is a favorite. Other specialties include eggplant rollatini and chicken Francese — and, of course, all kinds of pizza.
Part of the restaurant's success lies in Veneziano’s willingness to try new things. One of them is a best seller: chicken and broccoli Alfredo pizza.
“I put it on the internet and within a couple of hours, people were buying it like crazy,” Veneziano said.
