New parenting educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension
MIDDLETOWN — Julika von Stackelberg has joined Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County as Parenting & Family Life Educator.
“Julika comes with a background in parenting coaching, working with parents one-on-one, in groups and as a workshop leader and public speaker,” said Denyse Variano, Family and Consumer Sciences issue leader. “She also has extensive experience in marketing, outreach and fundraising with non-profit organizations. Julika’s experience and background is a great combination for what we are hoping to achieve over the next few years in our Family Life Department.
“Parents and caregivers today are faced with a plethora of new challenges, especially when it comes to managing family and work life,” Variano continued, “In response, Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County is in the process of expanding the programming we offer, especially for working parents.”
In addition to program delivery, von Stackelberg will be reaching out to the local community to help increase visibility and awareness of the programs Extension offers for parents and caregivers. Plans include lunch-and-learns, as well as one-on-one support.
Von Stackelberg will lead "Parenting in this Wild New World - 5 Simple Tools for Successful Parenting," a workshop to be presented at the Albert Wisner Library in Warwick in conjunction with Family Central on June 9.
“As a parent of three, I have first-hand experience of how challenging it can be to parent in this ‘wild new world,’” said von Stackelberg, “That’s why I am excited to join the Cornell Cooperative Extension in this capacity - supporting parents and caregivers of Orange County as they strive to provide a nurturing environment for their families.”
