New chiropractor in Chester promises 'no cracking, popping, or twisting'

GOSHEN — A ribbon cutting took place last September to announce the opening of Dr. Anthony Puglisi’s chiropractic office at 78 Brookside Avenue in Chester, much to the delight of a substantial group of well-wishers who came to cheer the event.
Dr. Puglisi opened the new office, Innate Chiropractic Chester, located at the Chester Mall ShopRite Plaza to bring his skills to the region where he grew up.
He graduated in 2008 from Minisink Valley High School and in 2012 from SUNY Cortland, where he earned a BS degree in Kinesiology: Exercise Science.
“I had given thought to becoming a chiropractor, so when I decided to go on with my education, I researched the field and found Innate Chiropractic in Newburgh," he said. "I fell in love with the way they operate, the message they had. So after being accepted into Life University in Marietta, Georgia, I packed my bags, headed to Marietta, and went to school.”
After graduation, Dr. Puglisi and his wife, Kasey, returned to the area to be near family and raise their children here. Both grew up in neighboring Slate Hill. In fact, Kasey is expecting their first child at the end of March.
What drew Dr. Puglisi to the Innate approach to chiropractic was the philosophy behind the method.
“It all starts with the nervous system," he said. "That’s what we’re all about, making sure the nervous system is finely tuned and functioning at 100 percent. Our goal is to allow people to reach their full potential of health.”
He said the Innate approach is far gentler than most other chiropractic practices in that it uses a Torque Release Technique (TRT), which is neurologically based.
“There’s no cracking, popping, or twisting," he said. "In fact, I use an instrument to adjust that allows me to be very gentle and very specific."
He demonstrated the palm sized-tool.
“The bonus is that it’s safe for all ages — from pediatric to geriatric," he said.
He envisions a family-friendly office that offers an efficient use of his patients’ time.
“Our practice members stop in and get a weekly tune-up to make sure they are healing and functioning optimally and then get back to their busy lives," he said.
He noted that this is a convenient option since his office is in a shopping center where a lot of patients can run their daily errands.
Taking care of a lot of families, including pregnant moms, children, and fathers, too, Dr. Puglisi said it pleases him to say that his practice has grown “tremendously” since opening on Sept. 10.
He’s also happy to acknowledge that Kasey, as office manager, “keeps this place up and running.”
When Dr. Puglisi isn’t in the office, he enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and hiking, which he calls one of his passions. He and Kasey have two miniature dachshunds, Boe and Tuck, and a cat, Gemma that they care for.
Right now they’re both busy working together to get the nursery ready in their New Hampton home, preparing for the new arrival coming in March.
Focused on good health care for his patients, Dr. Puglisi concluded with these words to think about:
“Health isn’t an event, it’s a destination," he said. "Everyday we try to get a little bit better than the day before.”
