New assisted living community opens in Port Jervis

The Sentinel of Port Jervis, a new senior living community, is now open at the site of old Days Inn in Deerpark, N.Y., after a complete renovation and expansion.
It includes 160 units with both private and semi-private suite options. The 65,000-square-foot complex is situated on five acres of lush greenery.
“Some have called our model ‘a senior wonderland,'" said Neil Zelman, CEO of The Sentinel, a family-owned and -operated health care organization based in Rockland County, N.Y., that continues to expand its portfolio of assisted living communities across the state. "I think that really captures what we are trying to accomplish while providing quality care and life enrichment to the seniors in our communities.”
He said the Sentinel of Port Jervis allows offers affordable senior living while providing top-level care. It has been licensed by the New York State Department of Health as an Assisted Living Program.

A similar project was completed in Amsterdam, N.Y., in late 2017 will be a blueprint for other upcoming New York locations.
