Kat Parrella, a Chester native and resident of Monroe, opened Merrily Paper in Sugar Loaf in October, 2015. Last week, Parrella had a visit from Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus as part of his "Open for Business" initiative.
“Kat is an incredibly talented artist and her studio is beautiful,” Neuhaus said. “She takes a lot of pride in Merrily and the different products that she creates. I think it is also noteworthy that Kat puts her personal touch on almost everything she sells in the studio. Minority and women-owned businesses are an integral part of the fabric of our community and I wish Kat much success.”
Before opening Merrily, Parrella designed stationary on a freelance basis for 15 years. She describes Merrily as a modern stationary and gift shop. According to Parrella, her work embraces the stories, moments and milestones that celebrate, inspire and connect us all.
“I was honored to have County Executive Neuhaus visit my shop and spend some time learning about Merrily,” said Parrella, who lives in Monroe. “It means a lot that he supports woman-owned businesses in Orange County. I enjoyed having the opportunity to share my products with Mr. Neuhaus.”
Other Orange County businesses may also be part of the "Open for Business" program. From large firms to small family operations, contact Neuhaus's office at 845-291-3255 or jrodriguez@orangecountygov.com to schedule a visit.
