Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) has announced that 12 Hudson Valley students have accepted offers of appointment at one of the United States’ Service academies.
Every year, Maloney nominates outstanding high school students to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.
“These young people are inspiring, and have the smarts, the leadership, and the character to lead our armed forces in the next generation,” Maloney said. “They will make our country - and our communities - proud.”
Among the Service Academy students accepted are:
Miguel Connell from Chester - attending the United States Air Force Academy.
Anthony Bruno from Chester - attending the United States Naval Academy
Adam Lazina from Warwick - attending the United States Naval Academy
The United States Military Academy at West Point is located in New York’s 18th Congressional District.
Students who wish to receive a nomination must go through a competitive application process and then be selected by an esteemed panel of local veterans and community leaders. The Academies make the final decision on who receives an appointment of admission.
Rep. Maloney’s office will start accepting applications on August 17, 2020 for students interested in entering one of the Service Academies in the summer of 2021.
