Kyle Roddey

My name is Kyle Roddey and I am currently the Mayor of Goshen. I have held the position for the past two years and prior to that served two years as Village Trustee. It is an honor to be able to serve you, the people, every day. Being able to work hard to make my home a better place is one of life's greatest pleasures.

I am asking for your support in my bid for re-election. I believe that during the past two years, we have moved the Village forward and made tremendous progress. Even though we are in unprecedented challenging times, we have accomplished a great deal. In just two years we have:

Began an aggressive infrastructure improvement campaign

Negotiated a new sewer use agreement with the Town of Goshen

Lowered sewer rates by over $100 per household annually

Upgraded the Village website
Utilization of single stream recycling

Removed the old Village landfill

Cut over $200,000 in spending

Began updating Village signage codes to help businesses with promotion

Increased visibility of municipal parking lots

Passed a budget under the two percent tax cap

Secured sewer improvement grants of over $70,000

Each of those bullet points represents a challenge that the Village faced that my administration met head on. We have very literally turned challenges into opportunities. Our record speaks for itself.

My commitment to this Village is unwavering and I plan on building my life here for decades to come. Right now every dollar counts. It is essential that we have experienced hands on the Village Board who understand the value of each and every taxpayer dollar and strongly scrutinize every purchase from capital projects down to office supplies. Myself and the current Village board does just that.

My opponent has not articulated any policy changes that he would like to see. He has not even attended a village board meeting in the last year to learn about village business. Now is not the time to change leadership. It is critical we preserve the leadership team we have in place so the village can continue to cut spending, increase efficiency, and prosper.

If re-elected my focus for the future would be on continuing to support our local businesses, continuing pressure on Orange County to more forward with reopening the government center, increasing the village tax base to bring down the burden on our homeowners and businesses, recruiting new commercial uses and jobs to the Village, selling the village-owned property on 17M, and continuing to cut cost and find government efficiencies through technology and green energy.

I grew up in the Village of Goshen and attended Goshen public schools. I earned a degree in history from Binghamton University and a masters in teaching social studies from Mount Saint Mary College. I have experience in the classroom, running restaurants and in sales. In the past I was village trustee and village liaison to Goshen Joint Recreation, and a student representative to the Goshen Board of Education. I am active in many non-profits and volunteer organization including the Goshen Lions Club, Orange County Chamber of Commerce, and am a Board Member of the Goshen Chamber of Commerce and the Orange County Citizen's Foundation.

Thank you for your time and please consider supporting me on March 19.
