— Jackson Diglio, fourth grade student at Goshen Intermediate School, is this year’s champion of the school-wide National Geographic Bee at Goshen Intermediate School. Fourth graders Jason LaCosta and Bridgette Bennis took second and third place, consecutively.

The National Geographic Bee is a nationwide competition of fourth through eighth graders held in thousands of schools across the United States. The Bee was very competitive this year at GIS, with only 26 students qualifying to participate.

As champion of the school-level Bee, Jackson has taken a challenging written test which gives him the chance to qualify for the state-level competition. Winners at the State level have the opportunity to compete in the national championship Bee in May, the winner of which receives a $25,000 scholarship.

This year’s Geography Bee qualifiers were Bridgette Bennis, Madilyn Bunzey, Tallon Clark, Kenneth Cummings, Jackson Diglio, James Dimitrov, Avaree Freiberger, Petra Grald, Sadeel Hassan, Dylan Kane, Joey Kelly, Jason LaCosta, Max Lederman, Christopher Martin, John Mastrorilli, Patrick McGovern, Jack Mills, Isaias Miranda, Derrick Ramos, James Rodriguez, Charlie Schmidt, Annie Shih, Alexandria Thurtle, Jannah Uppal, Jilian Welshoff and Liam Wood.
