Irina Negru joins National Society of High School Scholars

GOSHEN — Irina Negru, a senior at Goshen High School, was selected for membership by the National Honor Society of High School Scholars.
The Society recognizes top scholars who have achieved academic excellence through hard work, sacrifice and commitment. Irina was informed of this honor by a letter from Chairman Claes Nobel, a senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.
“I’m very excited to have been selected and eager to be a part of the Society,” she said.
Irina has established herself as an excellent student at Goshen High School. She is a senior at Goshen High School as well as a student at CTEC (Career and Technical Education) at Orange-Ulster BOCES, where she participates in the advertising program. At CTEC, she is president of Skills USA Club, vice president of the National Technical Honor Society and a member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). At the high school, she serves as vice president of the Environmental Club and a member of the Leo Club, Interact, and Cultural Diversity. She is also a member of the tennis and track teams.
Irina is the daughter of Nela and Dorin Negru of Goshen.
Formed in 2002, the National Society of High School Scholars recognizes academic excellence at the high school level and encourages members of the organization to apply their unique talents, vision and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world. Currently, there are 800,000 members in over 160 countries.
