Goshen Village Police activity for April 2-25
Goshen. Chief of Police Ryan W. Rich’s report includes details on the arrest of 17 people, including two juveniles charged with arson in connection with brush fire in the wooded area behind Hilltop Drive on April 18. During this time, police also issued 36 tickets for distracted driving.




The following is Goshen Village Police Chief Ryan W. Rich’s report the Village Board for April 28, 2025:
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Village of Goshen Police Department has a strong partnership with the Orange County Child protective services. Jacob Manna is currently assigned as an investigator with the Orange County Child Abuse Task Force and works closely with the county’s Child Protective Services.

April 2
A vehicle was stopped on Greenwich Avenue for a traffic infraction. The driver was discovered to have an active arrest warrant from the City of Middletown Court and subsequently turned over to Middletown Police.
April 4
A vehicle was stopped on Scotchtown Avenue for speeding in a school zone. The driver held a suspended New York State driver’s license with six active suspensions. The motorist charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and released to return to Village Court.
April 5
While investigating a motor vehicle accident on New Street, a driver was discovered to have an active arrest warrant and was turned over to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
Patrols responded to a residence on Maiden Lane for a reported domestic incident. Subsequent to investigation, a subject was charged with criminal mischief and unlawful imprisonment. That subject was arraigned at Orange County Court and released. An order of protection was issued.
April 7
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Put the Phone Away or Pay” campaign began. This is an effort to prevent distracting driving, the leading cause of motor vehicle crashes nationwide.
In conjunction with the campaign, Village of Goshen Police issued 36 traffic tickets for distracted driving.
April 8
A vehicle was stopped on Greenwich Avenue for a traffic infraction. The driver was found to be intoxicated and charged with driving while intoxicated. The driver was released on traffic tickets.
April 9
SRO Sgt. Andrew Scolza assisted St. John’s Elementary School staff conduct a lockdown drill.
A vehicle was stopped for speeding in a school zone on Scotchtown Avenue. The driver was found to be impaired by drugs and charged with driving while ability impaired. That subject was released to return to Village Court.
A subject was arrested with an active Village of Goshen arrest warrant and arraigned before Judge Amanda Brady at the Goshen Village Court.
A subject was charged with endangering the welfare of a child subsequent to an investigation of an incident that occurred in the Village of Goshen in July 2024. That subject was released on an appearance ticket.
April 11
A subject was arrested with an active Village of Goshen arrest warrant, arraigned at Orange County Jail and released to return to Village Court.
April 12
A subject was charged with criminal mischief for an incident that occurred on March 7. That subject was released to return to Village court.
April 16
A vehicle was stopped on Scotchtown Avenue for speeding in a school zone. The driver was found to have a revoked driver’s license and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation. That subject was released on traffic tickets.
April 19
A vehicle was stopped on West Main Street for a traffic infraction. The motorist was found to be intoxicated and charged with driving while intoxicated. The driver was released on traffic tickets.
April 23
A vehicle was stopped on Main Street for a traffic violation. The driver was found to have a suspended New York State driver’s license with 16 active suspensions. The driver was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and released on traffic tickets.
April 24
A subject was charged with criminal mischief subsequent to an incident that occurred on Sept. 25, 2024. That subject was released with an appearance ticket.
April 25
A vehicle was stopped on Main Street for a traffic violation. The driver was found to be intoxicated and charged with driving while intoxicated. That subject was released on traffic tickets.
Department has begun preparation for this year’s Memorial Day Parade and services on Monday, May 26.
