The nonprofit Illuminate Goshen is once again preparing to meet its mission of illuminating the downtown, not just with strands of lights, but with holiday happiness.

At the Nov. 8 meeting, the Goshen Village Board gave its nod of approval for the yearly tree-lighting ceremony to take place on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Village Park, located on Main Street.

Along with the tree lighting, it’s quite certain that “a jolly old elf” just might make an appearance, too.

Crafters, vendors, and more will be on hand to make it a fun evening, said Trustee Molly O’Donnell. If other groups would like to participate in the event, contact O’Donnell at mol.odonnell@gmail.com.

The Board also granted approval for a Menorah-lighting request for Tuesday, Nov. 30, from Rabbi Meir Borenstein of the Chabad of Orange County in Goshen.

    Other announcements:

The 2022 Village Election is March 15. Vacancies include mayor (one-year term); trustee (one-year term); two trustees (each a two-year term).

Damian Brady was reappointed to the Ethics Board.

Emi Siljkovic was appointed to the Planning Board.

No meters: Free downtown holiday parking from Dec. 1-31.
