Goshen schools celebrate opening day






GOSHEN — The Goshen Central School District celebrated its Opening Day ceremonies on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in anticipation of the first day of school for students on Friday, Sept. 6. The ceremony included a welcome from Superintendent Daniel T. Connor and Board of Education President Judith Green.
Superintendent Daniel Connor thanked Buildings and Grounds Director James Riley and his employees for the outstanding job they did preparing our buildings for the new school year. He also thanked the secretaries, central office and support staff as well as the administrators for a job well done over the summer months.
Board President Judith Green welcomed the faculty and staff members to a new school year and wished them the very best on behalf of the Board of Education.
The crowd was also entertained by Chris Tucci, Goshen High School art teacher, and Joseph Palancia, Goshen High School Student Services, who performed a musical parody for faculty and staff.
During the ceremony, building principals and department heads honored several faculty and staff members for serving the students of our district for 20 years or more. Dr. Frank Sheboy, assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, personnel and technology, introduced the employees, stating that their longevity is due to their commitment and dedication to the students of this district.

Michael Isseks, social studies teacher at Goshen High School
Pamela Kramer, secretary at Scotchtown Ave. Elementary School
James McGovern, school bus driver
Rosary Papasidero, secretary at Scotchtown Ave. Elementary School
Beth Tyrrell, third grade teacher at Goshen Intermediate School
Sharon Zeszutek, cook manager at C. J. Hooker Middle School

Marcia Atkin, fifth grade teacher at Goshen Intermediate School
Judy Barden, Academic Intervention Services at Scotchtown Ave. Elementary School
Catherine Frahme, English teacher at Goshen High School
Helen Lamison, Foreign Language teacher at Goshen High School
