— A crowd of more than 200 people celebrated Purim in style this year at Chabad's "Purim in the Sixties" party at Goshen's senior center.

Party-goers heard the story of Esther ("Meghila"), in which a wicked man named Haman tried to destroy the Jewish nation before Queen Esther came along to save the day.

Participants also got to eat Hamantashen and enjoy activities that channeled the 20th century's grooviest decade. A festive meal was followed by a grand hypnoses show.

Many people arrived dressed in costume, in the custom of the holiday.

"Its great to see so many new faces," said Rivke Borenstein, co-director of Chabad. "Purim is a holiday full of joy and we are happy to bring joy to the entire community."

"We each have to be 'an Esther' in our times helping people," said Rabbi Meir Borenstein, co-director. He thanked the party's sponsors for their assistance.
