GOSHEN — On October 8, eighth grade students in Chrissy Pahucki's Studio Art class at the C.J. Hooker Middle School went outdoors to paint "en plein air" at Salesian Park. En plein air is a French expression that means "in the open air."
This painting trip is planned every October to capture the autumn colors. Painting outdoors on location creates more of a challenge than painting from a photo, since the artist must deal with the elements and the changing light. Pahucki said the students met that challenge and created some beautiful paintings.
